Started Day 6 with a pleasant bus ride, arriving Lijiang in time for lunch. The food wasn't really unusual, but I did notice quite a queue outside our restaurant. ;D
Then it was to the Yulong Mountains, with their permanently snow-capped peaks!
Up there, I discovered another thing about myself: A PRIME candidate for mountain sickness! Ended up polishing off an entire can of oxygen that's supposedly enough for two people! But I stayed on my feet well enough for a few nice shots, and recovered quickly enough for the rest of the day. See my Drunken Photography Kungfu after coming down the mountain? ;p
Then, we were treated to great views in the sky (a "Hallelujah Ray of Light"!) a serene view of the White River downstream (albeit surrounded by HORDES of tourists!) and subsequently at the Jade Water Wall Palace and the Baisha Murals.
After a steamboat dinner, we rounded off the day with a nite walking tour of a section of Old Lijiang where we joined a Bai-style square dance around a bonfire.
Tune in for more on Lijiang on my next post...!
